I have been anxiously awaiting my chance to get my hands on a copy of Sandi Henderson's new book, Sewing Bits and Pieces: 35 Projects Using Fabric Scraps. Sandi is such a fabulous designer and a tremendous inspiration to anyone who is familiar with her work.
"Sewing Bits & Pieces is a collection of 35 projects designed to make the most of what you have. Your beloved fabric scraps!
From hair accessories to garment to party decorations, there is something for every crafter in Sewing Bits & Pieces." (Sandi Henderson Design)
I must admit, in many instances this book is a little too advanced for my very, very novice skills. It isn't that Sandi doesn't explain thoroughly, because her directions ARE easy to understand and follow, it's because many projects assume the reader is already familiar with some sewing basics. Most readers probably are, however I am left a little confused! I have loved that the projects are all about using scraps. As a beginner I am intimidated to cut into a large piece of beautiful fabric for my own use. But using the little leftovers from trimming orders, bolt ends, and miss-cuts is perfect for me!
The book is simply beautiful, as you might expect anything from Sandi would be. She even took the photos herself! I look forward to tackling some of these wonderful project!
